The Nigerian forward was instrumental for the team over the weekend, scoring one goal and assisting another to help Genk maintain their position atop the Jupiler Pro-League table, Footballrover reports.

With 11 league goals, Arokodare leads Nigerian scorers in Europe’s top 15 leagues, surpassing Super Eagles stars Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen, who each have nine goals.

His form has sparked conversations about his potential to clinch the Pro League Golden Boot and elevate his status among Nigeria’s elite forwards.

The 5-star qualities behind Arokodare’s success

Thorsten Fink highlighted the attributes that set the Super Eagles prospect apart.

Tolu is a top striker. He is fast, strong in the air, left- and right-footed, and he scores, the German tactician remarked.

Fink also praised the 24-year-old for adding defensive responsibilities to his game, calling it a significant improvement.

In the match against Anderlecht, Arokodare displayed his versatility and resilience.

Although he missed an early chance after being denied by goalkeeper Colin Coosemans, he quickly redeemed himself by netting the opener from Ibrahima Bangoura’s assist.

Later, he delivered a precise pass to Konstantinos Karetsas, who scored Genk’s second goal.

Closing in on the Golden Boot

Arokodare’s battle with league top scorer Kasper Dolberg is getting hotter each week, with the Nigerian just one goal behind the Danish forward.

If he maintains his form, he could become the fourth Nigerian to win the Golden Boot in Belgium, following in the footsteps of Tosin Dosunmu, Joseph Akpala, and Paul Onuachu.

A rising star with room to grow

While Fink applauded Arokodare’s attacking ability, he noted that there is still room for growth.

What more could you want as a coach? he said, emphasising the striker’s potential to reach even greater heights.

As Genk enjoys a three-point lead at the top of the table, Arokodare’s contributions will surely remain important to their title aspirations.
