The match, a Group D encounter, saw the Super Eagles claim a hard-fought victory thanks to a late goal from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who broke the deadlock after a frustrating 90 minutes, Footballrover reports.

Despite Libya’s repeated efforts to slow the game down, Nigeria ultimately prevailed.

Throughout the game, the Libyan team frequently interrupted play by exaggerating injuries and delaying restarts, frustrating the Nigerian side.

Every minor contact seemed to result in a Libyan player going down, causing numerous stoppages and breaking the flow of the match.

Reacting to these tactics, Onyemaechi took to his X (formerly Twitter) account, humorously suggesting that Libya deserved an award from CAF for their time-wasting.

His comment highlighted both the frustration of the Nigerian players and the importance of securing the three points.

Important 3 points, Omo CAF suppose give them award on wasting time,” Onyemaechi quipped.

With this victory, Nigeria remains atop Group D with seven points, having scored four goals across three matches without conceding.

They now turn their attention to the return leg in Benghazi on Tuesday, October 15, where they will face Libya once again.

And as for Libya, they remain at the bottom of the group with just one point, struggling to keep up with their competitors.
