Rivers Angels Head Coach, Tosan Bob Blankson, has signaled a shift in focus ahead of the Rivers Angels vs Ekiti Queens Matchweek 17 encounter.

While the fixture remains a key part of the Nigeria Women’s Football League calendar, Blankson’s recent comments suggest that the Port Harcourt outfit are already looking toward the Super Six playoffs, Footballrover reports.

“Definitely, we are set to face Ekiti Queens. I want to thank God for the league. This is the last home match we’re playing, and we’d play against Ekiti Queens,” Blankson stated.

He further emphasised the importance of giving the home supporters an exciting game.

“We have to wrap up the last home match with victory for the fans so that they will enjoy the Super Six. We thank God again how we started the league and how far we have come.

By the grace of God, with the preparation of the players, we will win on Wednesday and go to Benin for the last match before the Super Six and get a good result.”

No Training Ground for Rivers Angels vs Ekiti Queens

When questioned on whether the remaining fixtures, including the Rivers Angels vs Ekiti Queens game, were merely tune-up matches, the tactician was quick to dismiss any notion of complacency.

He insisted that every minute on the pitch now serves a higher strategic purpose.

“It’s not a training ground. We are trying to put one or two things together tactically. We are preparing for Super Six already.

Now that we have qualified, we have to put one or two tactics together so that we can achieve our goals,” Blankson concluded.
