In his recent interview, the 20-year-old striker revealed that his faith played a key role in how events unfolded, Footballrover reports.
Chelsea had reportedly agreed on a £34 million transfer for the talented forward, who was then with Atletico Madrid.
The deal, which would have seen him as part of a swap involving Conor Gallagher, collapsed at the last minute, leaving many fans wondering why.
It was later revealed that concerns over a minor ankle injury derailed the agreement.
Reflecting on the near-miss, Omorodion shared that while he was eager to join Chelsea, he believes divine intervention prevented the move from happening.
Instead, he credits his faith and trust in God’s plan for guiding him through what he described as one of the most challenging periods of his career.
Omorodion’s determination to shine at Porto
After the failed transfer, Omorodion found a new home at FC Porto, where he has quickly proven his worth.
The striker has already netted seven goals in seven matches, including a standout performance with two goals against Manchester United in a thrilling 3-3 Europa League draw.
Omorodion went on to express his gratitude to Porto for offering him a lifeline at a time when his future seemed uncertain.
He admitted that the emotional toll of the failed Chelsea move was heavy, but he has since put the disappointment behind him.
“I went through a very difficult period, because, after all, everyone knows that I was about to sign [for Chelsea], but it’s true that it didn’t happen; it was for a reason. God didn’t want it,” the forward said.
“I’m also very grateful to Porto for giving me the opportunity when things looked at their worst, and I’m very happy with where I am now. I’ve left the past behind and now I’m focused on what’s coming to me,” he added.
With his focus now fully on his career in Portugal, Omorodion is determined to make the most of his opportunity at Porto and continue his rise in European football.
