Despite the interest from Chelsea to see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang move to Stamford Bridge, Barcelona head coach – Xavi has continued to refuse to rule out the possibility of a deal for the player.

Footballrover gathered that the 33-year-old attacker has given his consent to return to the Premier League just few months after his four-year spell at Arsenal came to an unhappy ending.

According to sources, Chelsea has made a part-exchange offer of just under £15 million plus Marcos Alonso, while Spanish media outlets claim Barcelona has lost interest in recruiting the defender and would prefer a cash-only transaction.

Presently, Barcelona’s terrible financial situation has prevented them from signing players for the majority of the summer.

Although, Robert Lewandowski, Franck Kessie, and Andreas Christensen can now be registered for La Liga games thanks to the activation of four financial levers, which entails selling off assets like TV rights for quick cash.

“We don’t know what will happen. Right now he’s our player, he’s important but the circumstances will tell. At the moment neither Auba nor Memphis have left… now the priority is to register Koundé. There is a market that ends on August 31 and we will see what will happen. I am counting on him and tomorrow it could be important, but we will see the circumstances.” – Xavi said.

In response to a query about whether the transfer window should end before the start of the domestic season, Xavi failed to hide his concerns immediately.

“Yes. The player should be focused on football and the market should end when the leagues start. In the end, you don’t work in peace. You’re preparing for the week with a player and he can leave. It’s not the ideal scenario.” – he said.
