Raheem Sterling has written a final farewell to Manchester City fans as he gets ready to sign a Β£50 million transfer to join Thomas Tuchel Chelsea.
The winger, whose contract at the Etihad Stadium is about to expire, has said he wants to move on to a new challenge.
It has been believed that Sterling, who passed his medical on Tuesday, was flown to Florida to join the west Londoners’ preseason tour before he be introduced as a Chelsea player.
The English man posted a message to City and their followers on social media that all but confirms his impending departure.
“Seven seasons, eleven major trophies, a lifetime of memories,” Sterling wrote on Twitter.
“To the coaching staff who have played a massive role in my development over the years, to my teammates who have become more than just those I share a pitch with, to the backroom staff, to the office staff, to the fans who have tirelessly supported the team, and to everyone involved with Manchester City, my respect for you couldnβt be greater.“
The winger continued;
“What a ride itβs been.I am thankful for the ups and the downs. As itβs the downs that have, at times, tested my strength and resolve, and enabled me to stand here in front of you as the best possible version of myself.
“I arrived in Manchester a 20-year-old, today, I leave as a man. Thank you for your endless support. Itβs been an honour to wear the shirt of Manchester City.”
