Victor Osimhen continues to dominate the Turkish Super Lig with another standout display, delivering his 16th goal contribution of the season.
The Super Eagles star was instrumental in Galatasaray’s commanding 5-1 away win against Kayserispor on Sunday, proving why he remains one of the league’s most fearful player, Footballrover reports.
Galatasaray’s strategic move pays off
Coach Orkan Buruk placed his faith in Victor Osimhen by restoring him to the starting lineup after managing his game time in recent matches due to a slight injury.
Previously limited to 15 minutes in Galatasaray’s 4-3 victory over Trabzonspor, Osimhen also missed the Lions’ UEFA Europa League draw against Malmö.
However, fully fit and ready, the 25-year-old led the line in their Super Lig round 17 fixture, and his presence made all the difference as he bagged a brace.
Early impact and the 16th goal contribution
It took Osimhen just four minutes to make his mark at the Kadir Has Stadium, confidently converting a penalty to give Galatasaray the lead.
Although Kayserispor quickly equalised through Stéphane Bahoken, the visitors regained control as Barış Alper Yılmaz restored their advantage before halftime.
The Nigerian forward delivered his second goal in the 71st minute, courtesy of a counterattack orchestrated by Yunus Akgün, who turned provider after scoring earlier in the second half.
This decisive moment brought Osimhen’s Super Lig tally to nine goals, alongside three assists, complemented by his three goals and one assist in the UEFA Europa League.
Galatasaray tightens grip on the Super Lig
Galatasaray’s dominance continued as they secured a five-star victory with additional contributions from Yılmaz and Akgün.
The Lions now sit comfortably atop the Super Lig table with 44 points, maintaining their position as the team to beat.
A memorable year-end for Osimhen
Victor Osimhen’s brace not only shows why his role is very crucial for Galatasaray but also caps off an impressive year.
With his 16th goal contribution, he enters the Christmas break in top form, ready to face Göztepe when the league resumes on January 5.
