Super Eagles star Victor Boniface managed to set the internet buzzing on Saturday evening with an unusual goal celebration during Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-1 win over Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.
The Nigerian forward, who scored twice and provided an assist in the dominant win, grabbed headlines not just for his brilliant performance but for his new celebration after finding the back of the net, Footballrover reports.
After scoring his second goal, Boniface made a bold move—pulling his shorts down in front of Leverkusen’s home crowd.
While this may have shocked many, the striker later revealed that the act was not meant to cause any offence.
Instead, it was inspired by a viral TikTok trend from Nigeria.
Back to winning ways! 💪🖤❤️

Speaking to bundesliga.com, Boniface explained the curious celebration.
“It’s a TikTok trend by a big influencer in Nigeria. I promised him that I would cheer so much; I just hadn’t scored yet,” he said.
Aside from the quirky celebration, Boniface’s performance was top-tier.
He not only grabbed a brace but also set up Martin Terrier for one of the other goals, capping off a stellar team effort.

Florian Wirtz completed the rout with a penalty, but it was Boniface that stole the show with his man of the match performance and his celebration.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time the 23-year-old has drawn attention for his celebrations.
Just weeks ago, he was slapped with a €25,000 fine and a one-match suspension for an offensive gesture during the German Super Cup against Stuttgart.
However, this time, Boniface made sure to keep things light-hearted and in good spirits.
With his impressive form and memorable celebrations, Boniface continues to make his mark on both the Bundesliga and social media.
