Amid rising speculation, KRC Genk’s Head of Football, Dimitri De Condé, has firmly addressed rumors regarding Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare potentially leaving Genk during the January transfer window.
With Premier League side Fulham reportedly expressing interest in the striker, the Belgian club appears resolute in their stance, Footballrover reports.
Fulham, eager to strengthen their attacking options mid-season, have been linked to Arokodare as they seek reinforcements beyond Raúl Jiménez and Rodrigo Muniz.
However, Genk remains unfazed by the chatter, determined to retain one of their standout performers.
Why Genk is reluctant to let Tolu Arokodare go
Arokodare, who joined Genk from Amiens in January 2023 after Paul Onuachu’s move to Southampton, initially struggled with injuries.
Despite his early setbacks, the 24-year-old made a strong comeback, playing a crucial role in helping Genk secure a spot in last season’s Jupiler Pro League play-offs, where he netted 12 goals.
This season, Arokodare has taken his game to new heights, scoring nine goals in 15 league matches. His remarkable form has obviously attracted attention, but Genk remains firm in their resolve.
Speaking on the matter, Dimitri De Condé made the club’s position clear, emphasising Arokodare’s importance to the team.
“Tolu is not allowed to leave,” he stated. “He is also very grateful to our trainer and will not leave Fink and Genk just like that.”
Tolu Arokodare’s impressive goal tally this season places him just one strike behind Jupiler Pro League’s top scorer, Kasper Dolberg of Anderlecht.
His consistency and rising profile make him a key asset for Genk as they aim to sustain their league dominance.
As the January window approaches, it’s clear Genk has no intention of losing a player who has become central to their ambitions.
For now, the speculation about his future remains just that—rumors Genk is determined to silence.
