Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has showered praise on fellow Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare for his outstanding performances at KRC Genk this season.
With remarkable numbers to his name, the Genk star man is rapidly carving a niche for himself in Europe’s top league, Footballrover reports.
Arokodare’s scoring streak impresses Osimhen
Tolu delivered a stellar performance in Genk’s recent 2-2 draw against Royale Antwerp, scoring twice to bring his season tally to 14 goals and 6 assists in just 23 matches.
This puts him only one goal shy of surpassing his total from last season, where he managed 15 goals across 52 games.
Osimhen, who has been tracking Arokodare’s progress since his move to Genk as Paul Onuachu’s successor, expressed admiration for the striker.
Responding to a post by Naija Footballers, the Galatasaray star lauded the Super Eagles prospect for his dedication and growth.
“To see him making a huge name for himself and for his team is something amazing. Knowing how he started, I know he will surely achieve greatness,” Osimhen wrote.
Tolu’s growing recognition in Europe
Tolu’s consistent performances have not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from European clubs like Trabzonspor, Fulham, and Galatasaray.
However, Genk’s chairman, Peter Croonen, has firmly ruled out a January transfer, confirming the club’s intention to retain their star forward.
Despite his growing acclaim, Tolu Arokodare is yet to receive a call-up to the Super Eagles.
If he continues his current form, the 23-year-old could soon be a strong contender for national team selection next year March, which he outrightly deserves.
For Arokodare, Osimhen’s praise is deeply motivating. The former FC Köln striker revealed that Osimhen’s words meant so much to him that he plans to frame them as a reminder of his journey and potential.
“I go frame this one put for house; nothing anybody wan tell me. Thanks, broski,” Tolu replied.
