Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has taken the Turkish Super Lig by storm since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli this summer, but it seems a permanent deal at the club is not on the table for the Nigerian right now.
With 12 goals and five assists in just 15 appearances across all competitions, the Super Eagles forward has become indispensable for the Istanbul giants, Footballrover reports.
However, speculation about a permanent deal or a move to top European clubs like Chelsea and PSG has reached a fever pitch.
Coach Okan Buruk has finally addressed these rumours, and his stance might surprise fans.
Why a permanent deal for Victor Osimhen is ‘too early’
In a recent interview with Demirören News Agency via Fanatik, Buruk confirmed that Galatasaray intends to retain Osimhen until the end of the season.
While the club dreams of turning the Nigerian forward’s loan into a permanent deal, Buruk stressed that now is not the right time to pursue such a move.
Buruk cited both financial constraints and the need to avoid unsettling the player.
“I don’t think it is right to go after the player during this process. It is not right from an economic perspective either. It is not right from a financial perspective either. I think it is too early,” he said.
Osimhen’s commitment to Galatasaray
Despite mounting interest from Europe’s elite, Osimhen has expressed his happiness at Galatasaray and pledged to complete the season with the club.
And Buruk has emphasised the importance of shielding the player from distracting rumours, saying,
“The player’s mind needs to be left alone. We want to buy him. But we shouldn’t confuse the player. He explained this and told us. He said he will finish the season at Galatasaray.”
Focus on the season ahead
As the winter transfer window approaches, Galatasaray remains focused on maintaining their strong league position with Osimhen leading the charge.
Although the club may revisit the idea of a permanent transfer next summer, for now, both parties are committed to seeing the loan through to June.
Victor Osimhen’s performances will undoubtedly continue to attract attention, but Galatasaray’s immediate priority is ensuring stability for their star forward as they aim for silverware.
