The announcement was made by General Manager Bashir Badawiy during the team’s first official training session on Monday, Footballrover reports.

While announcing the departures, Badawiy assured fans that the club is actively strengthening its ranks.

He revealed that 23 new players, including top stars from the NPFL, have been recruited to bolster the squad for the next season.

The incoming players include some impressive names:

Abayomi Samuel (Shooting Stars)
Jimi Iteji (Plateau United)

– Kazeem Badmus and Adamu Abubakar, former U17, U20, and U23 national team goalkeepers

– Ifeanyi Ogba (Rangers International)

Fresh Start and High Expectations

We have let go 22 players from last season to join clubs within and outside the country as their services will not be required,” he revealed

He wished the departing players well in their future endeavours but emphasised the club’s focus on the upcoming season.

Badawiy highlighted the importance of discipline and adherence to the club’s philosophy, urging the players to strive for a top-three finish.

The general manager further revealed the club’s ambitions for the 2024–25 NPFL season.

Kwara United is aiming to break free from past struggles and replicate—or even surpass—their achievements in the last two seasons, which included top-four finishes and continental qualification.

Pre-Season Preparations

Kwara United will participate in the upcoming Valuejet Preseason Tournament, which kicks off on the 24th of July in Ikenne, Ogun State.

This tournament will provide a valuable opportunity for the newly assembled squad to gel right before the official NPFL season gets underway.

However, Footballrover understands that training will continue for the team tomorrow at the Kwara United training pitch.
