The Ilorin-based club was charged with providing false information, leading to a fixture adjustment, and causing their scheduled match against Akwa United to be rescheduled from Saturday, April 20 to Sunday, April 21, Footballrover reports.

The claim was based on a letter stating a government event at the stadium, which turned out to be false.

It was later revealed that no such event took place, as the stadium hosted a lower league fixture instead.

The first charge contained in Form 16 of the Summary Jurisdiction reads,

You are in breach of Rule C1.1 of the Frameworks and Rules of the Nigeria Premier football League, in that on Thursday 18 April 2024, prior to your Match Day 31 Fixture: Kwara United FC vs. Akwa United FC, you brought a late application for the rearrangement of the fixture outside of the prescribed time for making such applications, basing your application on a lie and relying on falsified documents, an act capable of bringing the game to disrepute”.

The second charge also reads,

You are in breach of Rule B6.23 of the Frameworks and Rules of the Nigeria Premier football League, in that on Thursday 18 April 2024, prior to your Match Day 31 Fixture: Kwara United FC vs. Akwa United FC, you disrupted the live broadcast of a game by making false claims about the unavailability of your home ground”.

The two-count charge resulted in a fine of N1 million for misconduct and N5 million for disrupting the live broadcast.

Kwara United has 48 hours to accept the decision or decide to appear before a disciplinary panel as per Rule C26.

Any decision must be communicated in writing to the NPFL, and the fine must be paid within seven working days if the club decides not to contest the ruling.
