Esther Okoronkwo showed why she’s one of the Super Falcons’ biggest threats at WAFCON 2025, delivering an exceptional performance that earned her the Woman of the Match award after Nigeria’s 3–0 win over Tunisia in Casablanca.
Super Falcons forward Okoronkwo impresses against Tunisia
Coming on for Babajide Rinsola at the start of the second half, the 28-year-old forward lit up the Larbi Zaouli Stadium with her skill, vision, and slick link-up play that kept Tunisia under constant pressure, Footballrover reports.
Okoronkwo nearly found the back of the net herself, smashing a shot against the crossbar in the 68th minute — a moment that got the crowd on their feet.

Even without scoring, her brilliant touches and attacking spark pushed the Falcons forward and earned her the Woman of the Match crown.
But thanks to Asisat Oshoala, Babajide Rinsola and Chinwendu Ihezuo, who were all on target to make sure Nigeria kicked off their campaign on a good note.

Okoronkwo eyes more goals for Super Falcons at WAFCON 2025
Before the tournament, the Canadian Northern Super League star had already scored six goals in just 15 matches for the Super Falcons, and her display against Tunisia shows she’s hungry for more at 2025 WAFCON.

Fans will surely be hoping that the AFC Toronto star’s next chance rattles the net — not the woodwork!
