Just when Granada desperately needed a turnaround in their campaign after battling with several defeats, Super Falcons prospect Edna Imade came to the rescue, delivering a solid performance at the perfect moment.
It was her first goal since mid-February, and it couldn’t have come at a better time, Footballrover reports.
The Nigerian forward scored a late winner against Sevilla to secure a crucial 2-0 victory in their Liga F clash on Sunday.
Edna Imade’s clutch goal against Sevilla ends Granada’s struggles
Granada entered this Liga F clash desperate for a turnaround, having suffered four consecutive defeats.
With morale at an all-time low, Imade and her teammates needed something special to snap their slump.
From the opening whistle, Granada showed urgency, and by the 33rd minute, Cristina Postigo broke the deadlock, giving the visitors a vital lead heading into halftime.
Six minutes after the restart, Edna Imade received a yellow card for a tough challenge, but she remained undeterred.
Then, in the 85th minute, she struck gold—burying the ball in the net to seal Granada’s 2-0 victory over Sevilla.
It was a defining moment for the 24-year-old striker, who had last scored on February 16 in a 2-1 win against Espanyol.
With this goal, she took her season tally to 13 and reminded everyone of her attacking instincts.
Granada climbs the table, but a tougher challenge awaits
Imade’s match-winning display wasn’t just about her goal. She dominated with 46 touches, three shots on target, 14 accurate passes, and a 100% tackle success rate.
She also won the most duels (8) in the match, proving her all-around impact.
Granada’s much-needed victory lifted them to fifth place in Liga F with 36 points.
However, the real test is yet to come—a tougher challenge lies ahead. Up next, they face league leaders Barcelona, a side that will demand nothing short of their best.
Can Imade and her team keep the momentum going?
