Nigerian forward Saviour Godwin has officially joined FC Baniyas from Saudi Pro League side Al-Okhdood for an undisclosed fee and contract length.

The one-cap Nigeria international has made headlines once again with his bold move to Baniyas, leaving behind the heat of Saudi football for a fresh challenge, Footballrover reports.

From Al-Okhdood to FC Baniyas: Saviour Godwin’s journey

From the Roshn League to the ADNOC Professional League, the high-flying winger has decided to switch to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This step signals a new chapter for the skilful winger as he looks to prove himself once more on bigger stages.

Before his stint in the Saudi Pro League, Saviour Godwin built his name in Portugal’s Primeira Liga with Casa Pia, where he spent four seasons.

He played a vital role in their promotion, making 102 appearances, netting 24 goals, and creating 14 assists. His energy and sharp footwork made him a fan favourite.

In 2023, he swapped Europe for the Saudi Pro League, signing for Al-Okhdood.

He spent two seasons at the Saudi club, where he scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 58 appearances for the team.

In his first season, he scored seven goals and four assists in 31 matches. While his second time at the club saw him deliver just six goals and one assist in 27 games.

Despite a tough season, his efforts helped Al-Okhdood avoid relegation on the final day, proving his worth under pressure.

Now, Godwin brings his pace and grit to FC Baniyas, ready to light up the ADNOC League.

The 28-year-old forward, who started at FC Sports Jos and won the U17 World Cup in 2013, has always found a way to rise above challenges.
