Former Super Eagles midfielder Prince Ikpe Ekong has confirmed that his son, Emmanuel Ekong, is fully set for a high-profile move to Swedish Allsvenskan champions Malmö FF.

However, the Ekongs felt this timeline was too long for a young player looking for regular minutes. Consequently, they made the decision to seek a new opportunity in January.

The club went to great lengths by sending officials to Italy to personally meet with Emmanuel, showing their genuine interest in his development.

“Malmö FF want him as a star player, to focus on him and use him for a record sale. He doesn’t get enough playing time at Empoli, not because he’s not good, but because he’s not the player they have decided to sell this winter,” Prince Ikpe Ekong said as quoted by Allnigeriasoccer.
