It’s no longer news that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen lit up the pitch with a stunning overhead kick during Galatasaray’s 3-0 victory over Antalyaspor.
Coming off the bench, Osimhen scored the third goal in stoppage time, a moment that left fans in shock, Footballrover reports.
Despite having another goal disallowed, the 25-year-old celebrated his remarkable strike with so much joy.
While speaking to the club’s website, Osimhen dedicated the goal to manager Okan Buruk, who was celebrating his birthday that day.
“Goal was an incredible goal. We got 3 points from here, I am very happy about that. I dedicate this goal to our coach, today is his birthday,” he said.
While assessing the match, Victor Osimhen noted that the team struggled in the first half but improved significantly after Mauro Icardi found the net.
He attributed their resurgence to a well-deserved four-day break, which allowed the squad to recharge.
“When we looked at the first half, we were not that good, we took the lead thanks to Mauro’s goals and we were able to play much better in the second half. We had a 4-day holiday and as a result we rested well, now we will continue the same way,” Osimhen added.
Victor Osimhen optimistic about Puskás nomination
When questioned about the possibility of his overhead kick being nominated for the Puskás award, Osimhen responded optimistically:
“Of course it could happen. It was an incredible goal. Why not a classy goal, maybe.”
Victor Osimhen now boasts three league goals this season, contributing to an impressive seven goal involvements in just five appearances for Galatasaray.
