Racing Louisville FC’s forward Uchenna Kanu has made a name for herself in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), setting a new record last night with a brace during a thrilling 2-2 draw against Portland Thorns.
The 27-year-old Super Falcons star has been a dynamic force since joining the American side in February last year, Footballrover reports.
In a brilliant outing on Sunday, Kanu became the first player in NWSL history to net the fastest brace within just six minutes of play.
Kanu’s first strike came just three minutes into the match.
A well-timed pass attempt by Kaylar Fischer was thwarted, leading to a fortuitous rebound that Kanu capitalized on, expertly curling a left-footed shot into the net off the crossbar.

Not content with her initial feat, Kanu struck again in the sixth minute, displaying remarkable aerial prowess.
A precise cross from Reilyn Turner found Kanu, who soared above Portland’s defence to head the ball into the goal with finesse.

Her lightning-fast double salvo not only propelled Racing Louisville SC into the lead but also secured her a place in NWSL folklore.
Despite Kanu’s heroics, Portland Thorns fought back valiantly.
Morgan Weaver narrowed the gap, and in a dramatic turn of events, Samantha Coffey netted a last-gasp equaliser in the 99th minute, salvaging a draw for the Thorns.
Reflecting on her historic achievement in the post-match press conference, Kanu expressed gratitude to her teammates for their support while lamenting the draw.
“I’m excited that I got two goals, and I’m super, super thankful for that. Of course, I’m proud of my girls. That last minute was really intense for us, and we just need to find a way to grind through the whole game,” Kanu said.
Meanwhile, Super Falcons Coach Randy Waldrum has included Kanu in the squad to face the Banyana Banyana of South Africa in the upcoming Olympic qualifiers on April 5th and 9th.
