Super Falcons star Jennifer Echegini has finally departed Italian giant Juventus after a successful six-month spell with the club.
Echegini, a key player for the Nigerian national female team, joined Juventus in January 2024 from Florida State University in the United States, Footballrover reports.
The Nigerian star midfielder took to social media to officially announce her departure from the Italian club, just months after joining the team in January.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, she expressed gratitude for her time at Juventus and thanked the club for the “incredible experiences, growth, and lessons learned” while in Turin.
“I wanted to take this moment and share my gratitude for the time we have shared,” she wrote.
She also highlighted the strong bonds she formed, stating her appreciation for the teammates and coaches who “made me feel like family.”
Echegini emphasised the value of working alongside such “dedicated and inspiring women.”
Echegini’s stint at Juventus was quite short but a resounding success.
The 23-year-old midfielder made a significant impact on the pitch, registering an impressive 10 goals and 1 assist in just 16 appearances.
Her impact was further recognised as she secured the Serie A’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the best U-23 player last season.
While Echegini’s next destination remains unconfirmed, she is currently focused on international duty.
She is part of the Super Falcons squad competing in the 2024 Olympic Games, aiming to bring glory to Nigeria.
