Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede has showered encomium on his star striker, Sikiru Adewale Alimi, describing his goals in the Nigeria Premier League this season as the best birthday gift he could ever ask for.
The Remo Stars coach stated this on Monday morning in a social media conversation, Footballrover reports.
In a lighthearted exchange on X (formerly Twitter), Sir Kris of Footballrover wished the Remo Stars coach a happy birthday, jokingly suggesting that he bench his top striker, Sikiru Alimi, if he didn’t receive a birthday gift from the Star.
Coach Ogunmodede responded,
“No amount of money he will give that will amount to the goals he [Sikiru] has given me so far. I prefer he continue to pay me in that direction. Thanks for the birthday wishes, bro. I appreciate. Together, we can be better.”
This conversation revealed the special bond between Coach Ogunmodede and Sikiru Alimi, who has been the fire arm of the Sky Blue Stars this season.

Alimi has continued to spearhead the team’s charge for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, scoring 14 goals this season, accounting for 35% of Remo Stars’ total goals.
The 28-year-old forward, a veteran player in the Nigerian league, has been instrumental in Remo Stars’ quest for their first-ever NPFL title.
With 56 points, they currently occupy the second spot on the league table, just one point behind league leaders Enugu Rangers.
The former Sunshine Stars and Shooting Stars striker has been in blistering form this season, netting a brace in Remo Stars’ 2-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes before their last game against Rivers United.
He now has 14 goals and three assists to his name, making him a strong contender for the top-scorer prize.
???????????? he has already done the needful…no amount of money he will give that will amount to the goals he @sikiru16 has given me so far. I prefer he continue to pay me in that direction.
Tnks for the birthday wishes bro, I appreciate.

Alimi’s goalscoring prowess has put him in a heated battle with Enyimba’s Chijioke Mbaoma for the top scorer award.
Mbaoma equaled Alimi’s tally by scoring from the spot in Enyimba’s 1-0 win over Katsina United, and the duo will continue their chase for the individual accolade in the remaining six games of the season.
Coach Ogunmodede will be hoping Alimi remains fully fit and firing on all cylinders as Remo Stars aim to make history and win their first NPFL title.
Up next, they will host Kano Pillars in Ikenne, in what promises to be yet another NPFL cracker.
