Saudi Arabia Senior National Football Team today shocked Argentina in the first Group C 2022 World Cup Match, played at Lusail Iconic Stadium, Lusail, Qatar.
The match which ended 2-1 in favour of Saudi Arabia saw the Herve Renner tutored side coming from one goal down scored through a Penalty by Argentine hero, Lionel Messi, in the 10th minute of the first half to shock the two time World Cup Champions with their first ever World Cup .
The historic win against Argentina did not come without big price for the Asian side. Five (5) Saudi Players, Abdulelah Al Maiki (8), Saud Abdulmahid (12), Saleh Al-Shehri (11), Nawaf Al-abed (18), and Goalkeeper, Mohammed Al-Owais were all booked by the referee for foul play, while Jasir Al-Shahrani (13) was stretched off the field of play in the 5th minute of the extra time after colliding with his Goalkeeper.
Saudi Arabia frustrated their South American opponent with unassailable defence formation, forcing the Argentines to be caught up in miserable offside web nine times in the match.
Seven times in the first half, and two in the second half. Saleh Al-Shehri scored the equaliser for the Saudis in 48th minute, while Salem Al-Dawson shocked the entire world with his clinical finish which hit the Argentine net in the 52nd minute of the second half for the historic winning goal.

The Video Assistant Referee,VAR, had earlier cancelled a goal scored by Inter Milan, and Argentina marksman, Lautaro Martinez in the 29th minute of the first half of the match.
