AC Milan forward – Olivier Giroud found back of the net twice as France outclassed Australia in a five-goal thriller at Al Janoub Stadium to start their World Cup defense.
Goodwin’s first goal, which was the fastest of the World Cup so far, caught Les Bleus off guard, but they weren’t deterred and went on to score four more without conceding.
Australia attempted to defend a corner but gave up at the end, allowing France to equalize through Rabiot. Rabiot lands a header past Ryan after Theo Hernandez crossed the ball back into the penalty area.
Giroud doubled their lead 32 minutes on the clock before Mbappe made it 3-0 in 68th minute. Three minutes later, Giroud made sure the game was beyond the reach of Australia as he doubled his tally of the game.
The former Chelsea star will surely be pleased with his brace, while Mbappe and Rabiot were both magnificent as ever.

With two points more than Tunisia and Denmark, who had previously drawn 0-0, France now leads Group D.
Since Brazil in 2006, Deschamps’ team is the first defending champion to win their opening World Cup game, and they just achieved the biggest win of this kind.
Here in Qatar, they will halt for a while. Australia is currently last with a badly affected goal margin.
After starting the game slowly and giving up an early goal, the reigning World Cup champion France eventually found its mojo and its goals, thumping Australia, 4-1. https://t.co/aEZeXhAdiX pic.twitter.com/uXNTVpjhtE
