Plateau United head coach Mbwas Mangut has openly revealed the shared dream and aspiration of teams in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL): securing a coveted continental ticket in the 2024-25 season.
He noted that while it’s still early in the season, the desire to qualify for international competitions is driving all the teams, Footballrover reports.
Last season, the Peace Boys narrowly missed out on continental glory, finishing fifth with 58 points, just five points shy of Enyimba, who secured a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup by finishing third.
Mangut is now more than determined to lead his team to achieve this goal.
Speaking to Plateau United’s media team, he emphasised that while it’s too early to make guarantees, every club is eyeing that elusive continental ticket.
“Our dream is to work towards it,” he stated.
Reflecting on the previous season, Mangut lamented how they fell short in the final two matches, particularly highlighting that Shooting Stars played a heartbreaking role in derailing their ambitions.
Now, with a focused mindset, Coach Mangut is dedicated to ensuring his team remains on track.
The Jos boys kicked off their campaign with a narrow victory over Katsina United in their opening match, followed by a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Shooting Stars away from home in matchday two.
