Galatasaray‘s thrilling victory over Elfsborg in the UEFA Europa League showed the formidable partnership between Victor Osimhen and Mauro Icardi.
After a nail-biting 4-3 win at the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex, Osimhen has expressed his confidence that no defence can withstand their combined attributes, Footballrover reports.
With each match, their chemistry grows stronger, raising questions about just how effective they can be together.
In a game filled with excitement, Galatasaray took the lead with goals from Icardi, Barış Alper Yılmaz, and Yunus Akgün.
Elfsborg responded valiantly, but their efforts fell short against a resilient Galatasaray side.
The Super Eagles star played yet another key role in maintaining the team’s undefeated streak, now totalling seven points in the group standings.

After the match, the 25-year-old forward reflected on the challenges posed by the Swedish Allsvenskan side.
He admitted that they anticipated the game would be very difficult due to the strength of the opponent’s defence.
Despite not finding the net himself, the Nigerian international expressed satisfaction with the victory, acknowledging the tense moments towards the end.
He emphasised that the team’s win was what mattered most. He also conveyed respect for the opponent’s efforts, highlighting their strong fight and his team’s happiness at finally securing the three points.
Osimhen and Icardi: A dynamic duo on the rise
Delving deeper into their partnership, Osimhen remarked,
“Playing with Icardi is very exciting. He sometimes participates in the setup. He almost assisted me. I enjoy it very much.”
His admiration for the Galatasaray star was clear as he described their on-field understanding, stating,
“You can see on the pitch that we understand each other. He is a great player and has a lot of experience. Playing with him is extraordinary.
With such confidence, the Nigerian forward boldly claimed,
“I think when we play together, no defence will be able to stand against us. I am very happy to be able to play with him.”
Galatasaray will now continue their campaign with a Turkish League game against Beşiktaş on Monday as the Nigerian and his Argentine partner look to build on their new partnership.
