Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi made an impressive preseason start in Everton colors, providing a brilliant assist to secure a narrow 2-1 victory over Stade Nyonnais.
The match, held at the Centre Sportif De Colovray, displayed Iwobi’s importance to the Premier League side as they gear up for the upcoming season.
In a closely contested encounter, both teams had chances in the first half but failed to capitalize. However, the second half brought the game to life.
Iwobi’s moment came when he orchestrated Everton’s opening goal. Drawing two defenders away, he delivered a stunning pass to substitute Katia Kouyate.

The 19-year-old forward wasted no time, blasting a left-footed shot into the roof of the net to give Everton the lead.
Iwobi continued to influence the game, setting up Francis Okoronkwo for a goal-scoring opportunity.
Okoronkwo was brought down in the penalty area, leading to a spot-kick that Neal Maupay confidently converted, doubling Everton’s lead.
Stade Nyonnais managed to pull one back late in the game through a superb first-time volley, but it wasn’t enough to salvage a draw against Everton’s resilient defense.
Alex Iwobi’s brilliant assist and overall performance highlighted his importance to the team.
Everton’s preseason campaign is off to an encouraging start, gaining momentum and confidence for the challenges ahead in the Premier League season.
