Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku agrees personal terms ahead of Inter return

After a poor season at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku has agreed to rejoin Inter on loan this summer.Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku agrees personal terms ahead of Inter return

The Blues have offered to pay a percentage of the player’s salary as part of the loan agreement, while the forward has consented to a minor reduction in his salary at Stamford Bridge.

Following the agreement of personal terms, just the terms between the two clubs have to be finalized, and Footballrover gathered that Inter and Chelsea are ‘near’ to doing so.

A future fee, an option to buy, and a possible additional season on loan after the 2022/23 season are all possibilities in these terms.

It appears that this is the case currently, with the Premier League club willing to pay a percentage of his salaries only to transfer him on.

Last summer, Chelsea paid £97.5 million to re-sign the forward, but he has been a complete let down for Thomas Tuchel’s team.

Lukaku failed to match up a season with Inter in which he scored 24 league goals with a season with Chelsea in which he only managed to score eight goals.

Romelu Lukaku’s time in Serie A for Inter by numbers:
72 appearances
452 touches in opp. box
105 chances created
95 shots on target
47 goals
13 assists
24.1% conversion rate
A return will do him the world of good.

Tuchel also proposed to Inter earlier this month that allowing Lukaku to re-join the club would be ideal for all parties involved and it all about to get done and dusted with.
