Romelu Lukaku and his quest to make a return back to Inter has surprised Francesco Totti, who believes he decided to go back to where he was good.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan and Chelsea have set a new direct contact for Romelu Lukaku in the coming hours as the Serie A side are optimistic and are awaiting Chelsea’s final price tag.

Chelsea owner – Todd Boehly is willing to talk to Inter about a possible loan move for forward.

Todd Boehly is said to be on the fence about letting Romelu Lukaku leave Chelsea.

However, it was made obvious to him that keeping a player of his caliber at the club once it became clear that he was no longer in Thomas Tuchel’s plans would be a worse mistake.

Lukaku is apparently keen to return to Inter, where he won the Serie A title last season, after leaving for the Thomas Tuchel side in a record £97.5 million transfer last August.

Alessandro Antonello, Inter’s managing director, revealed earlier this week that the attacker has a burning urge to return after netting just eight Premier League goals in a disappointing 2021-22 season at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian legend – Totti believes Lukaku’s return to Inter, where he grabbed 30 goals in his final season, would be a massive benefit for the Nerazzurri.

“I wouldn’t have expected it. I thought he was going to another club, but he wanted to go back to where he was good, he won [Serie A] and he wants to keep winning. In Italy he moves a lot, on a physical level it’s embarrassing!” – Totti told Sky Sports Italia.

Inter are also rumored to be interested in former Juventus midfielder Paulo Dybala, and are seeking to keep Lautaro Martinez, so the Roma legend believes that the quality of the team will surely be a huge concern for their opponents.
