With hat-trick from Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich are through to Champions League quarter-finals stage after beating Salzburg 7-1 on Tuesday night.
After a 1-1 draw in the first leg last month, Bayern opted to crush their opponent in the second tie with so much venom at the Allianz Arena.
Salzburg entered the game unbeaten in nine competitive matches, while Julian Nagelsmann’s side had not lost any of their previous four, with Bochum being the last team to defeat them.
Bayern were perfectly in control of the game and already 4-0 up at the end of the first half, thanks to a Lewandowski clinical finishing.

After both teams had squandered lots of scoring chances in the first three minutes, the 33-year-old Polish international earned two penalties to give the home the lead after being brought down both times by Wober.
The forward went on to make it three with a simple tap-in from an inch-perfect throughball from Muller, while Gnabry ended his minor goal drought with a goal from Coman’s assist.

Thanks to two assists from Sane, Muller was able to net a brace in the second half, and the former Manchester City forward also got his name on the score sheet as he slammed home Lewandowski’s pass.
Salzburg, on their part, never gave up and they earned a lucky goal through Kjaergaard, but only the German league leaders will cherish the night pleasantly.
While Bayern were ruthless in attack, Salzburg played right into their hands and could have prevented all seven goals if it hadn’t been for their blunders, putting the tie out of their reach.
Following a dismal performance in the first leg, Bayern Munich put on a fantastic display in front of their home supporters.

The Nagelsmann’s team will surely tighten up at the back as Salzburg did find space on occasion, and better clubs would have punished the German giants.
But for the time being, they will concentrate on the Champions League quarter-finals, while Salzburg will try to learn from their mistakes following a remarkable European campaign.
