Nigerian forward Victor Olatunji has kicked off the new campaign in Czech First League with a bang, scoring his first goal of the season as Sparta Prague edged out Pardubice at home.
A perfect start for Victor Olatunji and his teammates at the Epet ARENA, you would say, Footballrover reports.
Victor Olatunji proved to be the hero for his team on Friday evening as Sparta Prague staged a comeback to defeat FK Pardubice 2-1 in their Czech First League opener.
First game, first goal for the 24-year-old Nigerian, who scored the winner for Sparta Prague in their season-opening victory over FK Pardubice.
The visitors took the lead against the run of play when Jan Kalabiska fired home barely 25 minutes into the game.
But somehow, Sparta managed to find the equaliser on the stroke of halftime through Matej Rynes, before Olatunji secured the win and all three points with a decisive strike in the 59th minute.
The Nigerian forward’s goal was the perfect start to Prague’s campaign, as he helped his side to a winning start to the season.
Olatunji should have seen more goals in the game after registering over seven shots but could only manage to find the net once.
He also created two big chances but was subsequently substituted and replaced by Jan Kuchta after 61 minutes of action.
Up next for Olatunji and his teammates, they will be travelling down to Tallaght Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, where they will be facing Shamrock Rovers in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round leg 1 of 2 on Tuesday.
