Rasheedat Ajibade Delivers Champions League Assist but Bayern Silence PSG in Paris

Super Falcons forward Rasheedat Ajibade continued her impressive start to the season with a smart assist for PSG in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, but her contribution wasn’t enough to stop Bayern Munich from sealing a 3–1 comeback victory at Parc des Princes.

Paris Saint-Germain struck first when Ajibade broke down the right and set up Sakina Karchaoui for a composed finish after 16 minutes, Footballrover reports.

The assist marked Ajibade’s second of the season and her first in this year’s Champions League, adding to the goal she scored in their previous European fixture against Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old Nigerian now has two goal contributions in four appearances for PSG in the competition.

She has remained one of the club’s most consistent performers, despite missing out on the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award alongside Esther Okoronkwo—a decision many Nigerian fans questioned.

While Ajibade grabbed the headlines before making way for Merveille Kanjinga in the 55th minute, her fellow Super Falcons star Jennifer Echegini also featured prominently, lasting 85 minutes before being replaced by Tara Elimbi.

Despite PSG’s fast start, Bayern Munich grew into the game and levelled before half-time through Linda Dallmann’s tidy finish.

The visitors came out sharper after the break and took the lead in the 55th minute when Momoko Tanikawa slotted in confidently following excellent build-up play involving Klara Bühl.

PSG struggled to respond in the final third, creating just one major chance despite controlling possession.

Bayern remained composed, disciplined and dangerous on the counter, with Bühl driving most of their attacking breaks.

The French side’s hopes of a rescue were crushed late on when Jovana Damnjanović fired in a third in the 89th minute, sealing a statement away victory.

Bayern now leave Paris with a clear advantage, while PSG face pressure to react quickly if they hope to keep their European campaign alive after back-to-back defeats in the competition.
