Super Falcons sensation Esther Okoronkwo delivered yet another impressive performance on Saturday evening, grabbing a crucial goal and assist to power AFC Toronto to an important home victory against Halifax Tides in the Canadian Northern Super League.

Her incredible efforts ensured Toronto secured a 3-1 comeback win at York Lions Stadium, thrilling the home fans, Footballrover reports.

It started like a bumpy ride for AFC Toronto. Just six minutes into the game, an unfortunate own goal by Sarah Rollins gave Halifax Tides an early lead.
The home side needed to find their footing, and it took 22 minutes for Victoria Pickett to set up Kaylee Hunter, who unleashed a powerful shot to level the score at 1-1 before halftime.

The second half was where the true magic unfolded, thanks to Esther Okoronkwo.
Just four minutes after the break, she provided a brilliant assist to Kaylee Hunter, whose shot was too hot for the goalkeeper to handle, leading to Toronto’s second goal.
But Esther wasn’t done. Soon after, Hunter returned the favour, setting up the Nigerian international for a stunning goal.
She drove into the box, holding off two defenders, dribbled past the goalkeeper, and calmly slotted the ball into the empty net, sealing the 3-1 victory.
This marked her third goal and second assist of the campaign, bringing her total goal contributions to five in just nine appearances.
Esther Okoronkwo was replaced in the 74th minute by Jade Kovacevic after her impactful display.
Esther Okoronkwo: A bright star on the rise
The 28-year-old forward has truly been a standout player. Her consistent, incredible performances recently earned her the Player of the Month award for May.
She also provided a clutch assist that helped Toronto secure a thrilling 5-goal victory against Vancouver Rise in their last match.

Her recent performances have also earned her a spot in the Super Falcons squad for WAFCON 2025 in Morocco.
Thanks to her efforts and those of her teammates, AFC Toronto are now unbeaten in their last three games, with three straight wins, and only one loss in their last eight outings.
This vital win against Halifax Tides temporarily pushes AFC Toronto to the top of the table with 19 points from 10 games, ahead of Montreal Roses.
The team will now enjoy a two-week break before facing Ottawa Rapid on Friday, July 11th.
