League Reporters, taking a stand against alleged misconduct, has announced a boycott against Rivers United due to the team’s reported mistreatment of journalists covering their home games.
The statement highlighted incidents where journalists were allegedly attacked and restricted, prompting the demand for a formal apology from the club, Footballrover reports
In a daring move, League Reporters said that they would not cover the team’s activities until they also tackle the purported restraints by the club’s media handler.

Football content creator Andrew Randa also echoed these sentiments, recounting confrontations with the Rivers United Media Officer over alleged irregularities during NPFL24 matches.
Randa detailed instances of journalists facing physical altercations, leading to damaged equipment and potential injuries.
I had a long tiff with the Rivers United Media Officer on some of the shenanigans that happens in Port-Harcourt during #NPFL24 matches.
A few weeks ago, a journalist was manhandled and had his gadgets destroyed. He almost went deaf.

Sports pundit Mike, was not left out as he called out Rivers United, listing various grievances, including the media officer’s alleged censorship on social media, reported assaults on a videographer during a game against Kwara United, and attempts to obstruct game streaming by the Propel team.
