Remo Stars FC have caused a major upset in the Nigerian football transfer market by securing the signature of former Rivers United star Alex Oyowah.

The Sky Blue Stars officially announced the acquisition of the attacking midfielder on their social media platforms on Tuesday evening, Footballrover reports.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who was a standout performer for the Pride of Rivers last season, has opted for a fresh challenge with the Ikenne Boys.

Oyowah’s decision to leave Rivers United, where he was arguably the team’s best player, has left many United fans stunned, Footballrover reports.

The youngster, known for his creativity and goal-scoring ability, was highly instrumental in the team’s campaign last season, where they finished in the quarterfinal stage of CAF Confederation Cup.

Before his stint at Rivers United, Oyowah had impressed with Bayelsa United, showing off his potential with a series of eye-catching performances.

His move to Rivers United was seen as a step up in his career.

Recall that his transfer to the Garden City took an interesting turn last year when a contract dispute with Bayelsa United surfaced.

Despite the controversy, Oyowah eventually joined Rivers United as a free agent.
