The biggest preseason in Nigerian soil, the Valuejet Cup, is about to kick off with six (6) NPFL teams and Sudanese champions all already confirmed as participants for this year’s tournament.
Exciting Lineup Announced for the ValueJet Cup 2024
The ValueJet Cup 2024 is set to kick off on Wednesday at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, Footballrover reports.
Among the notable participants are the former NPFL champions, Rivers United FC, who will be competing under their new head coach, Finidi George.
After finishing in 8th place last season and exiting the CAF Confederation Cup at the quarterfinal stage, here comes an opportunity to redeem themselves.
This marks their third appearance in the off-season tournament.
Joining them are the back-to-back NPFL runners-up, Remo Stars SC. Fresh off securing a spot in the CAF Champions League for the second consecutive year, will be looking to carry their momentum into the tournament.
The competition also features Sudanese champions Almerrikh, who have emerged as early favourites to take the title.
Beyond Limits FA, who recently clinched third place at the Gothia Puma Cup in Sweden, return to the tournament with high expectations.
The 2024 NNL champions and last year’s ValueJet Cup finalists have earned promotion to the NPFL and aim to continue their impressive form.

Kwara United FC, who managed to avoid relegation last season, will also be participating, hoping to improve on their strength.
Adding to the excitement is Ijebu United FC, who makes a return to the tournament after their debut in 2022, bringing an element of underdogs.
High-Stakes Competition
There is a significantly increased prize this year, with the tournament winner set to receive N5 million, an increase from last season’s N2 million.
The runners-up will take home N2.5 million, up from N1.5 million last year.
The tournament offers teams a valuable opportunity to fine-tune their squads ahead of the upcoming NPFL season.
Sudan Champions Almerrikh will trade tackles with Shooting Stars and Beyond Limits in Group A, while Rivers United have been placed in Group B for the 2024 Value Jet Cup, alongside Remo Stars, Kwara United, and Ijebu United.
