Former Fenerbahçe star Abdullah Ercan has voiced concerns over the growing imbalance in the Turkish Super Lig, specifically pointing to the duo of Icardi and Osimhen at Galatasaray.
Describing the combination of Mauro Icardi and Victor Osimhen as unfair competition, Ercan hinted that their presence on the same team might be overwhelming for rival clubs, Footballrover reports.
But what exactly makes this pairing so formidable? The answer, according to Ercan, lies in the unmatched prowess both players bring to the pitch.
Osimhen, fresh from his Napoli stint after a much-publicised transfer saga, joined Galatasaray on loan, linking up with the already-established Icardi.
And since his arrival, the Super Eagles striker has wasted no time proving his worth, netting three goals and providing three assists in all competitions.
In a recent match against Antalyaspor, Osimhen wowed fans with a goal reminiscent of Puskas Award winners.

While Galatasaray fans have every reason to celebrate, Ercan remains unconvinced that this combination is fair for the league’s competitiveness.
During an interview on A Spor, he claimed that the two star forwards could create an unfair challenge for other teams.
“Mauro Icardi and Victor Osimhen in Galatasaray are an unfair competition for the Super League,” Ercan said.
Icardi and Osimhen unfair competition raising concerns
Ercan isn’t the only one aware of the deadly nature of this duo. Osimhen himself has acknowledged Icardi’s legendary status, admitting that playing alongside the former PSG star is a learning opportunity.
“Icardi is a legend of this game,” Osimhen stated after Galatasaray’s emphatic 5-0 victory. “We will improve each other’s quality.”
With the season ahead, Osimhen is poised to make a lasting mark at Galatasaray. But as their dominance grows, questions remain: Is the “Icardi and Osimhen unfair competition” really too much for the Super Lig to handle, or will the other clubs find a way to level the playing field?

Osimhen’s loan runs until June 2025, leaving plenty of time for the Galatasaray forward line to continue wreaking havoc—or for the rest of the league to catch up.
For now, fans can only wait and see how the competition responds to this strikingly powerful combination.
