Rangers have made a big statement by landing Emmanuel Fernandez, a rising defender who dreams of playing for the Super Eagles.

Just days after reports linked the Scottish giants to Fernandez, the team has officially confirmed the signing, beating other suitors to his signature, Footballrover reports.
Emmanuel Fernandez chooses the Gers over Rennes and Schalke
The Scottish Premiership side officially signed Emmanuel from Peterborough United.

The 23-year-old centre-back sealed a four-year deal that ties him to the club until the end of the 2028–2029 season.
Fans of the Scottish side are excited to see Fernandez, who scored seven goals in 61 matches for Peterborough United, bring his skills to Ibrox.
His impressive final season, where he netted five times, shows why the Gers fought off Rennes and Schalke to get him.

Super Eagles dream: Emmanuel shares his first words
Although Emmanuel can play for England’s Three Lions, his heart is set on the Nigerian national team. He is already working to get his Nigerian passport.
In his first words as the Light Blues player, Fernandez said:
“I am honoured; it is a huge club with a great fanbase, and I think I can kickstart my career and have a good journey here.”
“I was shocked when I heard about Rangers because it is such a big club, but it was the place I wanted to be.”

“I haven’t played at this level; there will be a lot of life changes for me, but it is something I want to be part of, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Before joining The Teddy Bears, Emmanuel helped Peterborough lift the Vertu Motors Trophy at Wembley after beating Birmingham City.
Now, he wants to write his name in Rangers’ history and wear the Eagles shirt on the international stage.
💭 Russell Martin: ‘Emmanuel is a young defender with a huge amount of potential, and I am excited to welcome him to the club.’
