In a social media post, Ekawu reflected on the match, expressing disappointment over the result but emphasising the team’s determination to bounce back stronger.

The clash at the Lafia City stadium witnessed an exciting showdown, marking the end of Doma United’s impressive unbeaten streak in a tense encounter against a tough Lobi Stars side.

The early lead secured by Stanley Eganbor in the third minute set the tone for the game, catching the Savannah Tigers off guard and terminating their commendable 9-match unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Bidemi Owoku and Emmanuel Ekpenyong faced immense pressure, yet the Tigers’ defence, steered by Haruna Aliyu and Nelson Abiam, displayed remarkable resilience throughout the match.

Lobi Stars, however, solidified their position in the 79th minute when Suleman Mojereola’s strike found the net, seemingly sealing the game in their favour after a valiant effort by Majalisa in defence.

But then, a late surge from substitute Samuel Enefiok gave a glimmer of hope to Doma United, narrowing the deficit to 2-1 in the dying moments.

Regrettably, the Tigers couldn’t conjure another goal before the final whistle, confirming their defeat and subsequent drop to the 3rd position in the league standings.

Meanwhile, Lobi Stars climbed to the second spot.

Not the result we wanted or hoped for yesterday, but we move. As a team, we went a good number of games unbeaten, our goalkeeper, Osayi Kingdom, kept a good number of clean sheets too, that keeps us 3rd on the table. Overall, we had a good ride, and we will go for the win next game,” Hillary Ekawu wrote on his social media page.

Looking ahead, Doma United aims to reclaim their winning form in their upcoming fixture against Heartland.
