Experienced tactician, Gbenga Ogunbote, has extended his tenure as the head coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club after signing a new 2 year deal.
The deal, finalised after weeks of negotiation, will keep the ‘Oracle’ at the helm of the Oluyole Warriors till 2026, Footballrover reports.
Ogunbote, renowned for his coaching stints at clubs like Rangers International, Lobi Stars, and Sunshine Stars, expressed his delight at the contract extension.
“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this talented group of athletes,” he said. “I am excited about the future we will build together.”
The coach acknowledged the support of the club’s management and fans, expressing optimism about the team’s prospects in the upcoming season.
He concluded with the club’s rallying cry, “Up Shooting!”
With Ogunbote at the helm, Shooting Stars fans will be hoping for a successful campaign in the coming seasons as the club aims to reclaim its former glory.
Recall that coach Ogunbote had an impressive 2023/24 campaign, where he guided the team to a fourth-place finish on the NPFL table.
Gbenga Ogunbote’s Warriors ended their season with 62 points against 63 of the People’s Elephant, narrowly missing out on the CAF Confederation Cup to Enyimba by only one point.
They won 18 of their matches, drew just eight, and lost 12 games.
With Ogunbote signing a new deal, it means one thing: they trust him to deliver and strongly believe he will. With the new season upon us, all eyes will be on his team to bring more glory to 3SC.
