What started as a comfortable lead for the league leaders ended in a nail-biting draw, showing the unpredictable nature of the beautiful game, Footballrover reports.

The Libya Premier League Championship Group Round 8 clash saw Al Ahly Benghazi take on Al Hilal Benghazi away from home.

The visitors started off the game with incredible energy, quickly establishing a two-goal advantage within the first seven minutes.

Suhaib Shafshuf opened the scoring just five minutes in. Soon after, Gabriel Ibitham delivered a crucial assist to set up Husain Taqtaq, doubling their lead and seemingly putting them in control.

Despite the early lead, the home side, Al Hilal Benghazi, fought back with determination.

Abdulsalam Diga pulled one goal back around the half-hour mark, making the score 2-1.

The game became even more intense when Ezoo El Mariamy scored a late equaliser just eight minutes before the final whistle, salvaging a 2-2 draw for Al Hilal.

The drama continued right to the end, with Diga, the goalscorer, receiving a straight red card in the 90th minute, reducing his team to ten men.

Gabriel Ibitham: Stellar season continues

Even with the draw, Ibitham continues his fantastic form this season.

The 24-year-old Nigerian forward has now contributed to eight goals and three assists in 11 appearances for Al Ahly Benghazi.

This includes four goals and two assists in his last five matches alone, showing his consistent impact on the team.

While the team’s unbeaten streak now stands at ten games (six wins, four draws), this derby was a stark reminder that every point must be hard-earned.

However, Al Ahly Benghazi remains at the top of Group 1 with 18 points, two points clear of Al Hilal Benghazi, and their next challenge will be against Al Sadaqa.
