In a remarkable showdown, the nine-time league champions left no stone unturned, defeating their NPFL counterparts, Akwa United, with a resounding 3-1 victory at the Eket Stadium in Uyo.

Guided by the leadership of Finidi George, the reigning champions displayed their mettle as usual in preparation for the upcoming 2023/24 campaign.

However, what appeared to be a friendly encounter wasn’t so friendly after all, as it turned into an intense battle on the field.

Fatai Osho, in his debut season as the new head coach of The Promise Keepers, found his team blindsided and grappling with a significant setback.

Enyimba’s success was brilliantly fueled by Alalibo Somiari, Joseph Atule, and Chijioke Mbaoma, each contributing a goal to secure a decisive victory for Enyimba Int’l.

Meanwhile, Sadiq Rilwan scored the consolation goal for Uyo based team – Akwa United.

With this victory, Enyimba’s position in the fight for the Nigerian Premier League championship this season is effectively declared.

Looking ahead, the NPFL Champions are poised to take on Bayelsa United in yet another pre-season friendly match later today.
