Super Falcons-eligible forward Edna Imade continued her brilliant scoring form, but her latest Liga F goal wasn’t enough to rescue Granada from a late heartbreak against Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old striker pulled Granada level in the 72nd minute, slotting home confidently inside the box to cancel out Weir’s early opener, Footballrover reports.
Edna Imade hits 15th Liga F goal in style
It marked Edna Imade’s 15th Liga F goal of the season and her second consecutive game finding the back of the net.
Despite her efforts, Granada fell 2-1 in a gripping Matchday 28 clash at the Nuevo Los Cármenes.
Granada came into the contest riding high on a three-game winning streak, with Edna Imade leading the charge after inspiring a 2-1 comeback win against Deportivo La Coruña.
Once again, she stepped up when it mattered, bringing the game to life with her equaliser—her 16th goal in all competitions and 18th goal contribution this season.
The match opened with Madrid pressure, and after several close calls, Weir broke the deadlock in the 12th minute.
Granada nearly hit back instantly when Imade broke free behind the defence, only for Chavas to deny her in a one-on-one.
Heartbreak Despite Another Goal from Edna Imade
After a tight second half, Madrid found the winner in the 85th minute. Linda Caicedo latched onto Méndez’s pass and drilled home a right-footed strike.
The defeat ends Granada’s three-game winning run, but Imade’s impact remains huge for the team.
Granada sit fifth on the table with 45 points and now turn their attention to upcoming battles against Real Sociedad and Levante for the final lapse of the season.
