Crawley Town, an English League One club, has made a significant move by signing Nigerian defender Benjamin Tanimu on a permanent deal.
Tanimu, who previously played for the Tanzania Premier League club Singida Black Stars, has made his way to England in a transfer that has grabbed attention, Footballrover reports.
The Red Devils secured his talents for a cool $850,000.
The 22-year-old has inked a two-year contract with Crawley Town, with an option for an additional year.
This rising star, who has already donned the Super Eagles jersey, had no shortage of suitors.
Clubs from England and Egypt were vying for his signature, but after careful consideration, Tanimu opted for the English game.
Inside sources reveal that Singida Black Stars received tempting offers, including one from Egyptian giants Zamalek, which was higher than what Tanimu was earning in Tanzania.
But the allure of playing in England ultimately won him over.
On Friday, Singida Black Stars confirmed that they had reached an agreement with Crawley Town FC, a UK-based club competing in League One, to transfer their Nigerian star, Benjamin Tanimu.
The deal includes a direct transfer fee, a 20% sell-on clause, and performance-based bonuses over the next two seasons, all adding up to at least $850,000.

Before his time in Tanzania, Tanimu was a defensive stalwart for Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria Premier League, especially following their promotion to the top flight in 2023.
He was also instrumental in their 2023 Federation Cup victory.
Tanimu’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed on the international stage either. He has been capped three times by Nigeria, having been called up by Finidi George.
He played in the 2-1 friendly win against Ghana in March and featured in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
In other transfer news, Frank Onyeka has joined Bundesliga side Augsburg on a season-long loan from Brentford.
