Anthony Nwakaeme may have faded from the Super Eagles spotlight, but his brilliance still shines in the Turkish Süper Lig.
On Monday night, the 35-year-old forward reminded everyone of his quality, providing a crucial assist that secured Trabzonspor’s 1-0 victory over Eyüpspor, Footballrover reports.
Nwakaeme’s brilliant assist lifts Trabzonspor to victory
In a game that saw Trabzonspor dominate possession, they struggled to break down Eyüpspor’s defence.
Despite an early penalty miss by Mame Thiam, it was Nwakaeme who proved to be the difference.
His pinpoint assist in the 59th minute allowed John Lundstram to score the game’s only goal.
This was Nwakaeme’s fourth goal contribution of the season, with one goal and three assists to his name.
A vital three points for Trabzonspor
The victory was crucial for Trabzonspor as it propelled them to ninth place in the league standings with 29 points.
Despite being a Turkish Süper Lig champion, Nwakaeme’s last appearance for the Super Eagles came in 2017.
Still, his performances at Trabzonspor continue to show that he’s far from forgotten at club level, delivering a brilliant assist when it mattered most.
