Super Eagles striker Gift Orban delivered a sensational performance, scoring a brace to lead Lyon to a thrilling 4-3 comeback victory over Strasbourg at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais.
After being absent from Lyon’s squad in their 2-0 loss to Monaco last week, Orban made a triumphant return for their Ligue 1 clash against Strasbourg on Friday, Footballrover reports.
Lyon got off to a shaky start, conceding just three minutes in when Sebastian Nanasi found the net for Strasbourg.
But they responded with Corentin Tolisso equalising in the dying moments of the first half.
The second period of the game didn’t begin well for Lyon, as Andrey Santos and Emanuel Emegha struck within minutes, putting Strasbourg ahead 3-1 by the 58th minute.

Desperate for a spark, Lyon’s coach Pierre Sage turned to Gift Orban, bringing him on in the 61st minute.
The impact was immediate. Just after Ainsley Maitland-Niles pulled one back for Lyon, making it 3-2, Orban stepped up to the plate.

In the 63rd minute, Alexandre Lacazette sent a teasing cross into the box, where Orban, with perfect timing, leaped to connect and nodded the ball home, levelling the score at 3-3.
And Orban wasn’t even done yet. In the 72nd minute, he found himself unmarked in the Strasbourg box.
Malick Fofana delivered a pinpoint cross, and Orban rose highest to send a powerful header into the bottom left corner, sealing the win for Lyon at 4-3.

This victory moves Lyon up to 11th place on the Ligue 1 table, a much-needed boost after a rocky start to the season with two losses and no goals to their name.
The 22-year-old Nigerian striker’s dazzling performance will surely puts him in contention for a regular spot in the starting lineup.
Next up for Orban and his teammates is a trip to Stade Bollaert-Delelis, where they will face Lens in their fourth match of the season.
But for now, Lyon can savour this hard-earned victory and the momentum it brings.
