Bala Abubakar has officially quit his position as head coach at Katsina United after their NPFL Match Day 25 on Wednesday, saying that he wishes the team the best.
Bala’s departure from his role as head coach at Katsina United follows their recent Nigeria Premier Football League clash with Sunshine Stars, Footballrover reports.
Despite his efforts, the former Kwara United coach faced challenges that led to his decision to resign.
One major factor was the absence of a supportive environment and the failure of Katsina United to fulfil their contractual obligations, Footballrover understands.
Reports indicate that Bala had not received his monthly salary throughout his four-month tenure with the club.
Adding to the strain, Bala encountered hostility from Katsina United fans on two occasions, without any intervention from the interim management.
Footballrover gathered that he was even rescued by heavily armed security personnel during one such incident.
In his resignation letter, Bala expressed his gratitude for the opportunity while citing the lack of conducive conditions and contractual breaches as reasons for his departure.
He wished the team success for the remainder of the season.
“I’m sincerely grateful for the opportunity and support given to me during my brief stay with the club, and I wish the team the best of the season,” he said.
Bala stepped into the role of Katsina United’s head coach during MatchDay 13, when the team was struggling in 15th place with just 14 points, narrowly avoiding the relegation zone by a single point.
Despite the challenges, he managed 6 home wins, 2 away draws, 1 home draw, and 3 away losses in 12 matches, accumulating a total of 21 points out of a possible 36.
