Lobi Stars are reeling from a controversial 1-0 defeat to Doma United in their Nigeria Premier League matchday 34 encounter at the Pantami Township Stadium on Saturday.
The Pride of Makurdi dominated the game but were undone by a questionable goal scored by Musa Usman from an offside position, Footballrover reports.
The Savannah Tigers secured the victory through a header from Musa just three minutes prior to the half-hour mark.
Shortly after the game, the club took to social media to express their frustration, stating,
“Despite our efforts, we failed to secure a victory at the Pantami Stadium against Doma United.”
Lobi Stars acknowledged their fans’ disappointment and vowed to bounce back in their upcoming matches.
The defeat leaves Lobi Stars in fifth place on the NPFL table with 52 points, nine points behind league leaders Enugu Rangers.
They face a tough test against third-placed Remo Stars at the Lafia Township Stadium on Sunday, where they hope to return to winning ways.
In a related development, the NFF Refereeing Development Committee has removed referee Haruna Abdullahi from the NPFL for his failure to identify offside positioning and offence in the controversial goal scored in the game.

NFF Refereeing Development Committee/Unit has stepped down Haruna Abdullahi from the 23/24 NPFL.
This was due to his inability and judgement to identify offside positioning and offense in the goal scored in the game between Doma United & Lobi Stars in MD 34.#NPFL24 pic.twitter.com/86zuRHhOrQ
