Shooting Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, has praised Abia Warriors for their impressive performance in their Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 34 encounter.
Despite his team’s huge victory at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ogunbote acknowledged that Abia Warriors gave them a run for their money during the Sunday league game, Footballrover reports.
The hosts found the back of the net four times to record an emphatic 4-0 victory in Ibadan, courtesy of late goals from Alex Aghahowa, Taofeek Ayodeji, Christian Pyagbara, and Adams Mustapha.

While speaking to the club’s media, Ogunbote praised Abia Warriors for their outstanding display in the match.
He acknowledged that it was a good match and expressed his belief that the coach of the Umuahia Boys, Bethel Orji, is a sound coach.
“Abia Warriors have a competent team. We needed to sweat to get the result,” he said.
Ogunbote admitted that his team’s anxiety and pressure from previous struggles affected their performance in the first half.
The coach also revealed that Abia Warriors, being a very good side, were able to resist all their antics until the second half, when his side eventually found their footing.
The former head coach, Remo Stars, said that while his team was performing well, scoring goals was the crucial missing element until they achieved success.

The win helped Shooting Stars bounce back from their President Federation Cup defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors.
However, they remain in fourth place on the NPFL table and will host Rivers United this weekend.
