Thursday night in Casablanca, Morocco, proved disheartening for Enyimba International FC of Aba, the champions of the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL).
They faced off against Wydad AC in the second leg of the inaugural CAF-organized African Football League (AFL), Footballrover reports
Sadly, the Nigerian champions suffered a 0-3 defeat to the Moroccan league champions.
Ayoub El Amloud secured an early lead for Wydad AC in the fourth minute of the first half with an assist from Yahya Jabrane.
This marked the first goal of the match. The Moroccans expanded their lead with a second goal in the 38th minute, courtesy of Jamai Harkasa.
Yahia Attiyat Allah added another goal in the 43rd minute, concluding the first half with a 3-0 scoreline in favor of the hosts.
However, the second half did not witness any goals from either team.
This 3-0 loss in Casablanca marked a disappointing international football journey for the 2022–2023 NPFL champions.
Wydad AC had previously won the first leg with a 1-0 victory at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria.

Enyimba’s journey in the African Football League ended in heartbreak for NPFL supporters as they were eliminated from the league without scoring even a single goal.
It’s interesting to know that Wydad of Casablanca is good at kicking out an NPFL team from every CAF competition, with Rivers United also on their list.
Enyimba will now return to Nigeria, where they will concentrate on winning the local league and try to hold onto the championship they won the previous season.
Meanwhile, the second-leg quarterfinals match between Esperance in Tunisia and Tout Puissant (TP) Mazembe in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) also ended 3-0 in favor of the North Africans.
Yassin Meriah, Oussema Bouguerra, and Mohamed Tougai scored the goals for the Tunisian League Champions in the 45th, 76th, and 81st minutes across the first and second halves of the match.
