Recent reports confirm that Rivers United forward Andy Okpe has made a significant move to further his career abroad by joining SuperSport United in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Footballrover understands that Okpe has opted for a lucrative deal with the esteemed South African side.

While specific details regarding his transfer from the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) side remain undisclosed, the young talent has parted ways with Rivers United after just six months with the club.

Okpe commenced his professional journey with Remo Stars and briefly played in the Ghana Premier League with Inter Allies before making the switch to Rivers United in August for an undisclosed fee, following challenges in securing a foreign move while with Remo Stars.

Recall that the 22-year-old played a crucial role in the Remo Stars’ commendable second-place finish in the NPFL 2022–23 season.

During his time with the Stanley Eguma side, Okpe produced magic with his boot by scoring remarkable goals, including a memorable contender for goal of the season against his former club, Remo Stars.

Despite featuring in 15 league games for the Port Harcourt outfit, he could only manage to register three goals.

With his departure, Andy Okpe bid goodbye to Rivers United and the NPFL, opting to pursue his professional journey with SuperSport United.

The Kano-born forward will now don jersey number 29 as part of the SuperSport United squad.
